Why flash a Piaggio or Vespa ECU?
Piaggio’s scooters are tuned at the factory for emission tests and the quietest possible ride: lean fuelling at small throttle openings, a hesitant pick-up from a standstill and a soft response. Owners who fit an exhaust or a variator find the stock map no longer matches. A reflash corrects the fuelling and the response for how the scooter is actually ridden.
Piaggio ECU families
- Marelli MIU G4: the Vespa 125 and 300, Beverly 300 and 400, and MP3 300 and 400 from 2021.
- Marelli IAW 11MP (TC277): the MP3 500 hpe Sport and Advanced from 2021.
Both are read and written through the diagnostic connector, without removing the ECU. The same Marelli ECUs are used across the Piaggio group: see Aprilia and Moto Guzzi.
