How it works

Flash your Ducati in four steps

  1. 01

    Connect

Plug your interface into the diagnostic port, or wire the ECU on the bench with the diagram from your account.

  2. 02

    Read & back up

MotoFlasher identifies the ECU and reads the full flash. Keep that original file: it is your way back.

  3. 03

    Tune

Edit fuel, ignition, limiters and the other maps in your tuning editor, or load a file from your tuner.

  4. 04

    Write

MotoFlasher corrects the checksum and writes the file back. Start the bike and ride.

Why flash a Ducati ECU?

Ducati twins are famous for character and infamous for their factory fuelling: lean at low rpm and small throttle openings, which brings surging, a jerky pick-up and a lot of heat. It is the first thing most owners want to fix, and it matters even more once the exhaust has been changed. Flashing the ECU corrects the map the engine actually runs on.

Ducati ECU families

  • Continental M3C: the air-cooled generation: Monster 696, 796 and 1100, Hypermotard 796 and 1100 and the Scrambler 400 and 800.
  • Mitsubishi MH8102F: the Panigale 899, 959 and 1199, Diavel 1200 and Multistrada 1200.

What riders change on a Ducati

  • Richer, smoother low-rpm fuelling: no more surging at steady speed.
  • Fuel and ignition for an aftermarket exhaust.
  • Rev limiter and fan temperature.
  • Track settings on the Panigale.

Flashing a Ducati, step by step

  1. Keep the battery on a charger.
  2. Connect your interface to the diagnostic port: a Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 or CANable for the M3C, a Tactrix or KKL cable for the Mitsubishi ECU.
  3. Read the ECU and save the original file.
  4. Edit the maps or load the file from your tuner.
  5. Write it back. MotoFlasher corrects the checksum.

Frequently asked questions

Does a reflash cure the low-rpm surging on a Ducati Monster or Scrambler?

Surging at steady speed comes mostly from lean low-rpm fuelling. Correcting that part of the fuel map is one of the most common changes on the air-cooled Ducati twins.

Is the Panigale supported?

Yes: the 899, 959 and 1199 Panigale with the Mitsubishi MH8102F ECU.

Which interface do I need for a Ducati?

A Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 or CANable for the Continental M3C, and a Tactrix or KKL cable for the Mitsubishi ECU.

Can I go back to the stock map?

Yes. MotoFlasher reads the full original file before writing anything, and you can write it back at any time.
