Why flash a KTM ECU?
KTM’s big twins are among the most powerful road bikes made, and their factory calibration still holds them back: lean low-throttle fuelling that makes the throttle abrupt in town, torque limits in the lower gears and maps built around noise tests. A reflash lets you tune fuel, ignition and throttle for your exhaust, your fuel and the way you ride, on the road or on track.
KTM ECU families
- Keihin SH72531 (KTM CAN): the 1090 and 1190 Adventure, early 1290 Super Adventure, 1290 Super Duke and Super Duke GT, plus the older 690 SMC.
- Keihin RH850 (KTM CAN, 2020+): the 2020 to 2023 1290 Super Duke, Super Duke GT and Super Adventure, and the current 690 SMC.
- Keihin RH850 (KTM CAN, 2024+): the 1390 Super Duke.
All of them are read and written through the diagnostic connector, with no need to remove the ECU. Add-on ECU families are marked in the table above.
What riders change on a KTM
